Edward Humphrey
Biography
Dr. Edward Humphreys is an internationally recognized authority in information security, risk management, and ISO international standards. With over 30 years of experience in developing cybersecurity policies, strategies, and frameworks, he is widely acknowledged for his leadership in the creation and evolution of the ISO/IEC 27000 series of standards.
He currently serves as Chairman of the ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 27, the joint technical committee of ISO and IEC responsible for international standards on Information Security, Cybersecurity, and Privacy Protection. Under his leadership, foundational standards have been developed, including ISO/IEC 27001 (Information Security Management System), ISO/IEC 27002 (security controls), ISO/IEC 27005 (risk management), among many others that are globally applied by governments, businesses, and organizations across the financial, technology, and industrial sectors.
Dr. Humphreys is also the author of several books, scientific articles, and technical reports, and is frequently invited as a keynote speaker at major international conferences. He advocates for an integrated and strategic approach to security and privacy management, promoting organizational resilience and digital trust.
In addition to his standards-related work, Dr. Humphreys collaborates with governments and multilateral organizations on issues such as cyber governance, incident response, data protection, and regulatory frameworks in complex digital environments.
