Biography

Vinton Gray Cerf, born on June 23, 1943, in New Haven, Connecticut, is widely recognized as one of the “Fathers of the Internet” for his pioneering work alongside Robert Kahn in co-designing the TCP/IP protocol suite (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) and the overall Internet architecture.

 

He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Stanford University, followed by a Master’s degree (1970) and a Ph.D. (1972) in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

 

Throughout his career, Cerf has played a central role in shaping modern computer networking and the global spread of the Internet. He currently serves as Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist at Google, where he continues to promote innovation and accessibility in digital technologies worldwide.
